Mercedes-Benz India has rolled out locally assembled unit of their compact SUV GLC from their plant at Chakan, Pune. Because of the local manufacturing, the GLC will get rid of the heavy import duties resulting it to become cheaper by upto ₹ 4.20 lakh.
The diesel version of the version of the GLC is priced between ₹ 47.90 lakh – ₹ 51.50 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) and comes in two variants- Style and Sport. It gets power from the 2143 cc 170 PS/ 400 Nm four cylinder turbodiesel engine. The petrol version on the other hand, comes only in sport variant at ₹ 51.50 lakh (Ex Delhi) and packs a 1991 cc four cylinder turbocharged engine with an output of 245 PS and 370 Nm. All three models comes paired to Merc’s 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox with 4MATIC All Wheel Drive system.
The GLC now becomes 9th model of Mercedes’ local production portfolio. On the occasion, Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said: “The GLC has already become one of Mercedes-Benz’s highest selling products, and we are very confident that it will replicate the global success in India as well. With the localization and availability in petrol and diesel, we are confident that the GLC will become an attractive proposition for our discerning buyers with enhanced value propositions and increased availability.”
