Honda has finally taken the wraps off the much awaited fifth-generation of it’s SUV, the CR-V. The all new 2017 CR-V comes with an evolutionary design and all the latest tech-spec in the town. And the hood too gets a new 1.5-litre turbocharged engine underneath.
The 2017 CR-V manages to look sporty and modern without having much funky details on the exterior. The front fascia looks directly adopted from the new Civic with an addition of a large muscular bumper with silver skid plate and hosting fog lamps at both ends with chrome touches at the bottom of the hoses. Side profile is much simpler and mostly similar to the current car.
Interestingly, the D-pillar angle and the shape of the tail lamps seems to have taken styling cues from the Volvo SUVs. Aprat from that, it gets treated with chrome linings around the windows and at the door bottoms. There’s a full width chrome slate on the tail gate departing the glass part from the rest.
Inside, the cabin of the new CR-V is more practical than bulky. The dash hosts a leaning back 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a physical volume knob on it and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. High quality soft-touch materials gives the cabin a premium feel well complemented by wooden touches.
The feature list of the new CR-V includes- push start/stop button, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way power adjustable front passenger seat, dual-zone climate controls, heated side mirrors, an Electric Parking Brake (EPB) and rear USB charging ports.
Under the hood, the new CR-V, in the US will get a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and an addition of 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an output of 190 horsepower. The engines will be mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with either front wheel drive or an all wheel drive system.
2017 CR-V will come equipped with number of safety and driver assistance features such as- Adaptive Cruise Control with low-speed follow and Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Collision Mitigation Braking with Forward Collision Warning and pedestrian sensing capability, Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning , Rear Cross Traffic Monitor and Auto High Beam headlights.
The 2017 CR-V will go on sale in the US by the end of this year so expect it to arrive in India sometime close to the end of 2017.
