After creating storm in the entry level segment with Kwid, Renault is coming up with more powerful version of the hatchback to target even larger set of customers. Revealing the details of 1.0L Kwid, Renault India has announced that the 999cc Kwid will be officially launched in India on August 22. Dealers have already started taking bookings of the car for amount of ₹ 10,000
The 1.0L Kwid will be powered by 999 cc three cylinder SCe engine, which produces 67 bhp of power and 91 Nm of torque which is repectively 14 bhp and 19Nm more than the current 0.8L version of the car. Initially it will come mated to the 5-spped manual transmission only while the AMT version is expected to join the line-up soon. The claimed fuel efficiency is 23.01 kmpl compared to the 25.17 kmpl of the 0.8L.
Exterior design and dimensions remains identical to the 0.8L Kwid except that the 1.0L Kwid gets silver finished ORVMs and ‘1.0L’ decals on the sides. The 1.0-litre engine will be offered only in the top variants RxT and RxT (O) which comes equipped with features like Touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, Keyless entry, Front fog lamps, Front power windows and optional driver side airbag.
Kwid is already getting popular for it’s muscular look and high-end features, now with added extra power Renault is targeting bigger cars of the segment such as Tata Tiago, Maruti WagonR and Alto K10. Prices of the 1.0L Kwid will be announced on August 22 at the official launch.
