Volvo has previewed two latest concepts for it’s upcoming projects. Concepts are currently named as 40.1 which is a compact crossover and 40.2 which is a four door compact sedan. In production version, this will most probably be S40 sedan and XC40 crossover.
Volvo says the upcoming 40s will be offered with a new T5 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain, using technology from the S90, V90 and XC90 T8 plug-ins, but coupled now to a new three-cylinder engine and 7-speed dual-clutch automated transmission.
Design of the S40 concept is like the other sedans with more edges and also the Thor’s Hammer LED lights up front & C-shaped LED tail lamps ate rear. While the XC40 concept is even sportier with edgy design and trendy blackened floating roof. And, have a look at the ORVMs of both the cars. Only Volvo can tell how it works!
The XC40 will be the first one to go under production sometime next year while S40 & V40 might get slated for 2018 or 2019.
